Our Poor Baxter

Stephen & I both work around the same hours everyday & work full time. Baxter is not good enough when no one is home, so we have to put him in his cage all day long. He has not been used to this & We feel so bad for him, but can't really do anything about it. He has so much energy when we come home. We've been taking him for long walks & he still wants to go crazy (I dont blame him). It might get a little bit better in about a week when stephen will go into work a couple hours after me & then come hom a couple hours later, so he will only be in his cage for about 5 hours, but we still feel bad for him. Hopefully in a couple of years he will be able to roam the house when we are gone & mind his manners! I've been wanting to take him to a doggy park & see if that helps get his energy out, but i'm scared of alot of other dogs, so we'll see what happens. We LOVE our Baxter!

  1. We leave Josie in her crate during the day too. I only work 5 hours a day, 3 days a week though so it isn't too bad. We used to leave her in at night as well, but felt bad so we weaned her off and now she has the run of the downstairs at night. She behaves great at night. I think she knows it's time to sleep and not play and she loves the bed she has in her crate. During the day she'll even go in by herself sometimes to snuggle up with her bed. Reserve a special toy only for when Baxter goes in the crate. That way he gets a special treat every time he goes in...
